SRAC Profile
Society for Sylhet Resource Advancement Community (SRAC) is a national level non-governmental voluntary and development organization. The Organization was started from the village of Dargabahar in Manikpur Union of Zakiganj upazila, a backward area of Sylhet district and the area is farthest from the district town. Due to this condition of health, education, sanitation and other development activities in this area was very fragile. However, no one has already taken such a significant role in inventing from this undesirable situation. It is doubtful whether there is a backward and underdeveloped area in Bangladesh in terms of sanitation, education, health and especially communication. There is social Prejudice in it which has made their more backward in terms of development. There are some areas of the upazila which have not been reached facility till date by any non-government organization. Therefore, in the light of all this, the organization was established in 2001 under the leadership of Mr. Md Kois Ahmed with a number of social service enthusiastic young men and women of the area . From there starting time in 2001 this organization provide difference social services by their members. Adopting new programs in terms of the capabilities and realities of the organization makes it difficult to manage projects implemented only by volunteers. In this situation SRAC started its work in 2007 through the recruitment of salaried employees from the beginning. At present, through its 312 salaried officers, employees and volunteers, the organization has been successfully implementing activities including poverty alleviation, women empowerment, education, health and disability services and training programs, water and sanitation and technical education to build skilled manpower. In the meantime, the organization is continuing its activities through public and private and national and international co-operation. Therefore, in this context, I would like to express my gratitude to all the collaborators, well-wishers, officers, employees also volunteer and donor as well as thanks to everyone on behalf of the Society for Sylhet Resource Advancement Community (SRAC).
