SRAC Caregiver Medical Training Institute (SCMTI)

Is a specialized training institution established in 2018 with the objective of developing a skilled, compassionate, and professional caregiving workforce capable of meeting the growing healthcare and social care needs of Bangladesh and the international labor market. The institute was founded in response to the increasing demand for qualified caregivers to support elderly persons, patients, persons with disabilities, and individuals requiring long-term care and assistance.

Bangladesh is experiencing significant demographic, social, and economic changes, including population aging, urbanization, migration, and increasing healthcare needs. At the same time, there is a growing demand for trained caregivers in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, community health programs, and home-based care services both within the country and abroad. However, access to structured and professional caregiver training remains limited for many young people, especially women and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Recognizing these challenges and opportunities, SRAC established the Caregiver Medical Training Institute to provide quality, competency-based training that equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and ethical values required in the caregiving profession. The institute offers comprehensive training in caregiving, elderly care, patient care, disability support services, first aid, basic health care, infection prevention and control, nutrition, communication skills, mental health awareness, and professional conduct.

The training programs combine classroom instruction with practical demonstrations, hands-on learning, and field-based exposure to ensure that trainees develop both technical competencies and compassionate caregiving attitudes. The institute places strong emphasis on patient dignity, confidentiality, safety, empathy, and respect for diversity, which are essential qualities for effective caregiving.
