Background of SRAC
Society for Sylhet Resource Advancement Community- SRAC is a well-known community led non-government development organization in the north eastern region of Bangladesh. It is started development work from the 02 (two) backward Upazillas of Sylhet district named Zakigonj, Kanighat upazilla. These are the neglected area also. SRAC is a non-government, non-political voluntary development organization. From the very beginning SRAC is committed to make positive change among the rural livelihood patterns and resource utilization and mobilization for better community life. In fact, there were not sufficient efforts have taken before to solve the hindrance of distress social condition. So far we know that no NGO activities going on there to make a comprehensive change of people’s resource mobilization and utilization. For that reason, a group of self-motivated social worker including some social welfare oriented young man formed SRAC in 2001. SRAC is working with a mission establish a poverty and exploitation free society as well as establish women empowerment in the society. The general body and executive committee of SRAC are committed to work with the poorest and distress with coordination with government and other development organization.

Management of SRAC
Society For Sylhet Resource Advancement Community -SRAC highest policy making body is the General Committee composed of 21 members. It has its Executive Committee (EC) composed of 7 members. The elected members of the EC have the responsibility to take charge of the overall organizational direction. Staff members of Society For Sylhet Resource Advancement Community -SRAC work under the leadership of its Executive Director.
